The left back’s absence poses a headache for Real Madrid boss Ancelotti as he prepares for Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a left adductor injury.

The 22-year-old sustained the injury during Real Madrid’s 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe on Wednesday. Medical tests confirmed a complete tear of the tendon in his left adductor muscle, sidelining him for potentially up to three months.

This means the France international will miss Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, and is also ruled out of the upcoming Club World Cup, scheduled to begin on 18 June.

Camavinga has been a versatile asset for Real Madrid this season, making 35 appearances across all competitions and scoring two goals.

His absence comes as a blow to the club as they prepare for the crucial clash against Barcelona in Seville. Los Blancos head into the game contending with an injury to David Alaba, who also suffered a muscle injury during the match against Getafe.

With injuries to Camavinga, Alaba and Ferlan Mendy, Ancelotti may turn to Fran Garcia to fill the left-back position in the final against Barcelona. Garcia has featured regularly in La Liga matches this season, and has provided four assists, but the monumental job of stopping Barca’s Lamine Yamal might be his biggest task of the season.

Madrid currently trail Barcelona by four points in the La Liga standings with five matches remaining. The Copa del Rey final is an opportunity for the club to win some silverware after exiting the Champions League and with their rivals so close to the title.
