The England international will delay procedure until after the FIFA Club World Cup, but will then miss the start of next season

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham is set to have surgery on his shoulder when the season ends this summer. The 21-year-old midfielder has had problems with his shoulder since his time at Borussia Dortmund, but Madrid have finally reached an agreement with him to settle the issue once and for all.

Both the player and the club’s medical team had earlier hoped to avoid surgery, but with the summer break coming up and the injury still causing trouble, all parties involved have decided to go ahead with the operation.

However, Bellingham won’t go through the procedure right away. The England international will first play for Madrid at the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on 14 June. The club considers the tournament a key part of their summer, and Bellingham is expected to be part of the squad.

Once the Club World Cup ends, Bellingham will have surgery. However, it means that the player will miss the start of the 2025/26 season, as recovery is expected to take a couple of months. Real Madrid doctors believe this is the best move for Bellingham’s long-term health, even if it means he will not be available when the new campaign begins in August.

Bellingham will be the second player at Valdebebas to undergo surgery, as Germany international Antonio Rudiger also went under the knife for a recurring knee problem earlier in April.
