Real Madrid forward Endrick has been advised to explore a loan move to continue his development away from the Bernabeu, with the club’s frontline dominated by older and bigger players such as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

The 18-year-old joined Real Madrid last summer on a three-year deal, with Madrid committing to another three-year extension that would effectively keep him a the club until 2030. But the Brazilian has already started to experience the growing pains of moving to one of the world’s biggest football clubs at the age of 18.

In a rare start against Sevilla in La Liga, Endrick failed to impress, misfiring in front of goal and struggling to influence the match before being taken off early in the second half by manager Carlo Ancelotti, who said after the game that he needed to learn to “shoot properly and quit clowning around”.

Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes believes a loan could be the best option for the youngster. Speaking to CasinoHawks, Morientes said that a temporary move could benefit Endrick both technically and mentally.

“In the case of Endrick and all the young players coming in, I think he’s had the opportunity to be in the first team, but has only gotten a few minutes, like Arda Guler,” Morientes said. “If I were one of those players, I wouldn’t mind going out on loan for a year, showing that I’m a great striker, developing in any competition, in the Premier League, in La Liga, in any important team.

“If you have the level, then you will return. But all these types of players who are 18, 19, 20 years old and are in the shadow of players like Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius, you’ll get very few minutes during the year if things go well.”

Morientes drew comparisons with Dani Carvajal, who left the club in 2012 to spend a year with Bayer Leverkusen. The Spanish right-back shined in the Bundesliga and returned to Madrid as a starter, a trajectory Morientes believes Endrick can follow.

“At that age, I think it’s good to continue developing your talent elsewhere,” he said. “Look at Dani Carvajal. He returned with a higher status and as a starter, without any problems.

“In the case of Endrick, who almost has a closed door to that starting role, I wouldn’t mind him going on loan so he could develop his full potential.”
