The Madrid squad also observed a minute of silence before training in honour of the player
Real Madrid players Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior have publicly paid tribute to Diogo Jota after learning of the Liverpool forward’s death.
Los Blancos are currently in the United States, where they are preparing for their Club World Cup quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
“Heartbreaking news. Rest in peace Andre and Diogo. Sending love and strength to the family,” wrote Bellingham.
Mbappe said: “Deepest condolences, support, and thoughts are with those involved their family and loved ones. Rest in peace Diogo & Andre.”
Vinicius posted: “Rest in peace Diogo and his brother Andre Silva! Much strength to the while family!!”
The Madrid squad also observed a minute of silence before training in the United States today in honour of the player.
Jota passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning in a car accident, together with his brother Andre.
The crash occurred near the Zamora province in western Spain, as Jota and Andre were en route to the port city of Santander. The pair were reportedly heading to catch a ferry, allowing Jota to return to Liverpool in time for the start of the club’s pre-season on Monday.
A tyre blowout caused the vehicle to lose control, leading to the fatal accident. Both brothers died at the scene.
Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020. In five seasons at Anfield, he scored 65 goals in 182 appearances, lifting the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
