Antony has been outstanding for Real Betis as club reach first European final

Real Betis supporters have expressed their desire to see Manchester United winger Antony stay at the club after his season-long loan comes to an end.

The 25-year-old made the temporary move from Manchester United to Real Betis last summer and it has rejuvenated his career after two and a half years of underperformance and criticism in the Premier League.

The Brazilian winger has since helped Betis to their first European final, including scoring a stunning free-kick and providing a decisive assist in the UEFA Conference League semi-final against Fiorentina. His performances have endeared him to Betis fans, who chanted “Antony, stay!” during club celebrations.

Since joining Betis in January, the winger has contributed eight goals and five assists in 21 appearances. His resurgence has not gone unnoticed by other clubs, with Atletico Madrid reportedly expressing interest.

Manchester United are said to be open to offers of up to £34 million for Antony, but Betis might struggle with the requisite fee.

Betis President Angel Haro himself acknowledged it would be a challenge, saying: “Keeping Antony is very, very complicated. We will negotiate with Manchester United to extend the loan.”

However, that might prove a difficult deal to do because a loan extension would be highly unfavourable for United.
