Rayan Cherki gives a major hint on Manchester City transfer after stellar performance for France against Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

Manchester City supporters have been handed a significant hint over their latest pending transfer by the player himself, as Rayan Cherki spoke on Thursday.

The France international was speaking fresh off the back of an outstanding performance for his country, in which he scored a remarkable half-volley and provided an assist in a 5-4 defeat to Spain.

The match-changing qualities Cherki displayed are exactly what Manchester City are looking to secure this summer.

With personal terms already understood to be in place between the Frenchman and officials at the Etihad Stadium, only an agreement over a transfer fee remains to be shaken upon as dialogue continues with Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Speaking to French television broadcasters after the match, Rayan Cherki was quizzed on where he will be playing his football next season. “Yes, it is taking shape,” Cherki said of his club future. “But you know my response, everyone knows it.” He continued, “But there is still a match to play (against Germany on Sunday). “Now, we have to make the most of it and give everything.”

A deal is expected to go through at around the £35 million mark between Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais, making Cherki the third arrival at the Etihad before the June 10 deadline.

AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders and Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri are both expected to undergo medicals with the club over the weekend.

Manchester City is set to jet out to Florida later in the week for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, with Pep Guardiola expected to return to training at the City Football Academy with players not called up to represent their nations on Monday. The Catalan coach will be looking to integrate new signings into the team ahead of the tournament.
