Daegu 0-5 Barcelona: A five-star performance for Flick’s side in final game of Asia Tour
Marcus Rashford opened his Barcelona account with a crisp finish from inside the penalty area as Hansi Flick’s men dismantled Daegu FC 5-0 in South Korea, closing out their preseason Asia Tour with a flourish.
The 27-year-old Manchester United loanee came off the bench at half-time and struck in the 65th minute, side-footing a low effort into the bottom corner from an Eric Garcia assist.
It was Rashford’s third appearance in Blaugrana colours and he is looking increasingly comfortable in the team.
Of course by the time he scored, the game was long settled. Flick’s flying men had gone three goals up at the break thanks to a Gavi brace and a classic Robert Lewandowski finish that seemed as though he could have taken all the time in the world if he wanted it – all in a first 45 that saw Daegu fail to register a single attempt on goal.
In the second half a different Barcelona XI came on, as is typical in pre-season. Dani Olmo then teed up Toni Fernandez to make it 4-0 with a close-range finish, before Rashford got off the mark.
One concern came late on as young defender Pau Cubarsi limped off with a knock to his left knee.
The match concludes Barcelona’s trip in Asia, with the La Liga champions now set to face Serie A side Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday, before the real business begins on 16 August.
