Winger will wear No 14 shirt in tribute to Thierry Henry
Marcus Rashford says moving to Barcelona feels “like I’m at home” following the completion of his season-long loan move from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old arrived in Catalonia on Sunday and was announced on Wednesday after completing a medical. Rashford will wear the No 14 shirt, the same number worn by Thierry Henry when he was at the club.
The move includes an option to buy next summer, understood to be set at around €35m, though the figure has not been officially confirmed by either club.
It has also been reported that Barcelona will have to pay a penalty of around €5m if they decline to make the deal permanent next summer.
Barcelona will travel east on Thursday for their pre-season tour of Asia and it is understood that manager Hansi Flick was eager for the deal to be concluded on time, so that Rashford could travel with the squad.
Speaking to Barça TV after being unveiled, Rashford said: “I’m very excited. Barcelona is a club where people’s dreams come true. They win big prizes and what the club stands for really means a lot to me as well.
“It feels like I’m at home. That was a big part of the decision. This is a family club, where people are comfortable and good players get to express themselves. I’m excited to be part of it.”
