Barcelona captain urges team to “do our job well” and not “worry about anything else”
Raphinha, Barcelona’s two-goal hero against Osasuna, wants his side to “focus on ourselves” and not think about their rivals despite their four-point lead at the top of the table.
The Brazilian forward broke the deadlock after 70 minutes where Barcelona struggled to create clear chances against a disciplined Osasuna, before sealing a 2-0 win late on. After the match, Raphinha said the manner of the victory mattered as much as the result.
“These kinds of wins are very important and give the team confidence to keep adding points,” Raphinha said. “Osasuna defended very well and we had to play a very good game.
“Patience was key to scoring the first goal. It could have come in the 80th or 90th minute. You have to be prepared. We knew it would be difficult to score the first goal.”
Barcelona are building momentum ahead of the winter break. They moved seven points clear of Real Madrid with Saturday’s win, with Los Blancos now needing a positive result against Alaves on Sunday to remain within touching distance of their rivals.
“I think things are going very well,” said Raphinha. “We need to focus on ourselves, and in the end, that’s the most important thing. If we do our job well, we don’t have to worry about anything else.”
