Raheem Sterling has parted ways with Chelsea by mutual consent, ending a three-and-a-half-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling had been training away from the rest of the Chelsea team after failing to secure a move in the summer transfer window.

Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for £47 million but struggled to replicate his City form. He was part of Enzo Maresca’s “bomb squad” and had a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal last season.

Chelsea released a statement thanking Sterling for his contribution and wishing him well in his future career. Sterling made 81 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 19 goals, and had 18 months remaining on his contract worth £325,000 per week.

The England international had been linked with several clubs, including Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fulham, but a move never materialized. He is now a free agent and can join any club.

At 31, Sterling is looking to revive his career. His next move remains uncertain but he’s open to opportunities that offer stability and security.

Sterling’s legacy includes four Premier League titles and being one of England’s top players. His run in Manchester City’s peak years from 2018-2021 will not be forgotten English Premier League fans should he pursue a career outside of England.
