The Madrid boss was frustrated by Endrick’s tame attempt to lob the goalkeeper
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has delivered a stern message to youngster Endrick after he squandered a golden chance in Wednesday’s narrow 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe.
The Brazilian earned his first La Liga start since his July arrival from Palmeiras, but his performance eventually left his manager visibly frustrated on the sidelines.
Endrick had two major opportunities to score. With the first, he was put through on goal after a give-and-go with Vinicius, but the goalkeeper made the save and Getafe were able to clear.
It was Endrick’s second miss that annoyed Ancelotti. The forward was through on goal again but attempted a chip that Getafe goalkeeper David Soria claimed easily.
“He had two chances,” Ancelotti said after the match. “He couldn’t have done any better with the first one, and with the second, he may have been offside, but he can’t be doing that.
“He’s young and he has to learn, but he has to shoot properly and quit clowning around. There’s no room for drama club in football.”
Endrick was eventually replaced with Jude Bellingham just minutes later.
Despite the criticism, the 18-year-old has had a respectable start to life in Madrid, with seven goals in 33 appearances across all competitions since his summer switch from Brazil.
The narrow win keeps Real Madrid on Barcelona’s heels, hoping the Blaugrana slip up in the title race. Only four points separate the two sides with five games left to play.
All eyes now turn to this Saturday’s Copa del Rey final in Seville, where Madrid will clash with Barca.
