Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and other PSG stars past and present send farewell messages to Gianluigi Donnarumma after his emotional Instagram post.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian goalkeeper who played a crucial role in Paris Saint-Germain’s victorious Champions League campaign, has bid farewell to the club’s supporters on social media. His departure seems imminent following the signing of Lucas Chevalier for a reported fee of €40m plus up to €15m in bonuses. 

Donnarumma expressed his disappointment and disheartenment after being left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.

Donnarumma thanked the PSG supporters for their support and affection, saying, “Your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget it.” He also thanked his teammates, calling them his “second family”. 

Several PSG stars, past and present, have shown their support for Donnarumma, leaving comments on his Instagram post. Kylian Mbappe reacted with a heart emoji, while Ousmane Dembele commented, “Grazie di tutto numero uno” (“Thanks for everything, no.1”).

Other supporters include Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who commented, “Grazie per tutto fratello” (“Thank you for everything, brother”), and Vitinha, who wrote, “Grazie mille Shisho” (“Thank you, Shisho”). Achraf Hakimi wrote, “Uno di noi” (“One of us”), and Presnel Kimbembe commented, “Grande Gigio”.

Donnarumma’s contract with PSG is set to expire in June 2026, and negotiations for a contract extension have stalled. The club’s decision to sign Lucas Chevalier has effectively made him the new first-choice goalkeeper. Donnarumma’s future now hangs in the balance, with speculation about potential transfers to top European clubs.
