Paris Saint-Germain have been fined €148,000 by Uefa for crowd control breaches during their Champions League final victory over Inter Milan in May.

The sanctions follow an investigation into the behaviour of PSG’s fans at the Allianz Arena, where the Ligue 1 champions won their first ever European Cup in emphatic fashion, defeating Inter 5-0.

Uefa said the French club’s fans were guilty of multiple infractions, including a mass pitch invasion, setting off fireworks, causing damage to stadium property, throwing objects onto the pitch, and displaying inappropriate messages in the stands.

Thousands of PSG fans poured onto the pitch after the final whistle. Many of them broke through security lines and crowded the goal area.

Stewards were visibly overwhelmed as supporters celebrated on the field, with many of them tearing off sections of the net as souvenirs.

Although the scenes showed the emotions of PSG’s fans after their long-awaited Champions League trophy, Uefa deemed the events to be serious violations of stadium protocol and safety regulations.

In addition to the fine, Uefa’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body imposed a one-match ban on PSG selling away tickets for European competition.

The sanction is suspended for two years, however, meaning it will only be enforced if there is a similar breach within that period.
