Midfielder’s effort was selected ahead of Nicolas Pepe and Julian Alvarez’s goals
Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been awarded La Liga’s Goal of the Month for August for his strike against Levante.
The 22-year-old scored Barcelona’s opener in the 3-2 comeback win, collecting the ball from outside the box and then unleashing a belter into the top corner. The goal shifted momentum after Barcelona had fallen two goals behind.
Pedri’s effort was selected ahead of Nicolas Pepe’s goal for Villarreal against Celta Vigo and Julian Alvarez’s free-kick for Atletico Madrid against Espanyol.
The award comes with Pedri in excellent form for both club and country. He underlined an impressive performance for Spain with a brace in the 6-0 rout of Turkey on Sunday.
Barcelona resume their domestic campaign this weekend against Valencia, playing a home game for the first time this campaign, although the match will be played at the 7000-capacity Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Barcelona to Play First Home Game at Estadi Johan Cruyff amid Camp Nou Delay
Barcelona will play their first La Liga home match of the season at the Estadi Johan Cruyff after failing to secure the necessary permits to reopen the Camp Nou.
The club had hoped to welcome Valencia on 14 September at their redeveloped stadium with a reduced capacity of around 27,000. However, city authorities did not grant the First Occupancy Licence required for fans to return, after a final inspection of the ongoing works gave an unsatisfactory verdict.
