“Exceptional” Performance Secures Historic Triumph for Paris
Ousmane Dembele is thrilled about PSG’s 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan in the Champions League final, calling it an “exceptional” triumph.
He believes no one can argue against PSG being the best team in Europe after this emphatic victory. “It’s pride, it’s frankly exceptional,” Dembele said. “Playing in the Champions League, winning the first one and especially in style. Winning 5-0 against Inter is difficult.”
Dembele praised the team’s quality, saying they dominated the match but struggled to finish their chances. He credited coach Luis Enrique for bringing in changes that pushed the team to give their all. “The coach changed things, it did us good, he brought in competition, it pushes you to give 100% or you’re replaced. He built a real team, from match to match.”
The France international also highlighted his own growth, saying he set an example for younger players by defending and running for the jersey.
“I had to set an example for the younger players, because I’m not so young anymore. Defending in matches like this, showing that you have to run for the jersey. I enjoy doing that, I put pressure on Yann Sommer to win back the balls, and it worked.”
Dembele concluded by saying, “It’s exceptional, we have to celebrate this without breaking things in Paris.” He emphasized the coach’s influence on his form, saying Luis Enrique always had confidence in him and knows he’s a team player.
