Nigeria international yet to respond to the club’s proposal to sign him on a permanent deal; Galatasaray have made Osimhen their priority for the No 9 position
Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu has called on Victor Osimhen to make a final decision about his future, as the Turkish champions push to sign the Nigerian striker on a permanent deal.
Osimhen was on loan at Galatasaray last season and made a huge impact, scoring 37 goals in all competitions and finishing as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig. His proven ability as a goalscorer has put him on the radar of the biggest clubs in Europe such as Manchester United, Juventus, Liverpool and Chelsea, though the Blues may no longer pursue a deal having signed Liam Delap this summer.
Galatasaray have made it clear that Osimhen is their priority for the No 9 position. The Nigeria international is currently on holiday and has yet to give a response to the club’s proposal. Galatasaray are hoping to finalise the deal as early as possible so they can begin preparations for the new season.
At a recent press conference, Kavukcu revealed that the club have already submitted an offer to Napoli and are waiting for the player’s final decision.
“Osimhen must decide as soon as possible,” said Kavukcu. “He always asks us for time, we respect that, he has a family too. But time is running out. We have made a much higher offer than other European clubs and at the moment we are not negotiating with other strikers. We are not thinking about plan B, we want Osimhen.”
The Galatasaray official added that the club is aiming to build a squad strong enough to compete globally.
“Our goal is to build a team that can compete with teams from all over the world, not just in Turkey. We must be patient. We are working day and night.”
