Osimhen and Lookman Lead Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 28-Man Squad

Nigeria has announced its 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, with Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman leading the charge.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in Group C, with the top two teams qualifying for the knockout stage.

Osimhen was voted the outstanding African player in 2023, while Lookman, from Italian outfit Atalanta, succeeded him. The squad boasts an impressive nine forwards, including Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and Paul Onuachu.

Notable absentees from the list include Victor Boniface, Tolu Arokodare, and Maduka Okoye, which has sparked debate among fans and Nigerian football analysts.

The Super Eagles are expected to face Egypt in a warm-up match on December 16 before heading to Morocco for the tournament.
