Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and former United player Nemanja Matic have been involved in a war of words ahead of Thursday’s clash in the Europa League.
Onana and Matic have been involved in a verbal war after recent comments by the Manchester United goalkeeper in a press conference.
After claiming his 9th Premier League in the Manchester derby, Onana was asked a few questions about the game against Lyon. He responded by saying United needs to focus more on themselves than Lyon. He said United are the better team and they just have to show it.
In a separate press conference, former Manchester United player Nemanja Matic was asked if he had comments about Obama’s remarks.
The Lyon midfielder hit back at Onana. He stated that Onana needed proof to back up what he was saying. He further stated that Onana is one of the worst goalkeepers in United’s history, and he should be careful what he says.
Onana replied with a Twitter post saying he would never disrespect another club and that United are fully focused on the game tomorrow. In his last sentence, he threw a subtle jab at Matic. The post reads, ‘At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same.’
This remark does have some truth to it, as Matic failed to win any trophy during his time at Manchester United.
Tomorrow would be a tough one for both players as they will be looking to match their words with action. Fans will be watching to see who will come out on top tomorrow as both clubs fight for a place in the semifinals of the Europa League.
