Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has announced that he will stay on at the for the 2020/21 season against his will.
Messi revealed this in an exclusive interview with Goal where he also fired strong shots at the club’s board led by President, Bartomeu
“I wasn’t happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will STAY at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute.”
“I told to the club, to the president in particular, that I wanted to leave. They know this since the start of the past season. I told them during all last 12 months. But I will stay here because I don’t want to start a legal”.
“I thought my time in Barcelona was over, sadly – I always wanted to finish my career here.”
“It was a very difficult year, I suffered a lot in training, in games and in the dressing room.
“The president always said that at the end of the season I could decide if I wanted to go or if I wanted to stay and in the end he did not end up keeping his word.”
“The truth is that there has been no project or anything at this club for a long time, they juggle and cover holes as things go by.”
Messi has however stated that he would continue to give his all for the club
“I will continue playing like I do. My attitude will not change. I always want the best for the club & the locker room.”
