“We play the same way as Palace but they are doing things better than us,” United head coach explains

Manchester United will face Crystal Palace on Sunday without Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko or Harry Maguire, manager Ruben Amorim has said.

Cunha missed the bizzare defeat to Everton after suffering a head injury in training. Sesko and Maguire are facing longer spells on the sidelines, although Amorim has previously stated he expects to have the Slovenian striker back before Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I expect to have Matheus in the next one, not this one,” Amorim said. “Sesko is going to take a little bit more time. Harry, the same.

United head to Selhurst Park without a win in three games and having picked up just one league win on the road this season, the surprise victory at Anfield in October.

Late goals rescued draws in poor second-half performances against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, before United were beaten by 10-man Everton at Old Trafford on Monday night football.

Against Crystal Palace Amorim will face a kindred spirit in Oliver Glasner, although while they play the same formation, the Crystal Palace manager has had far better results than his United counterpart.

Amorim said: “We play the different way. But like you said, it’s a different club and they are doing things better than us. So that is quite simple.

“You don’t say that all 4-3-3 play in the same way, right? We play in a different moment, we defend in a different space, we try to attack in a different way. They are just doing things better than us.”
