Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is determined to join Bayern Munich despite the Blues cancelling his loan deal at the last minute due to injury problems.
Nicolas Jackson’s aborted loan move to Bayern Munich has taken a dramatic turn, with the Chelsea striker reportedly staying in Germany to revive the deal. Jackson flew to Munich on Saturday to finalise his season-long switch, only to be told that the move was off due to Chelsea’s injury crisis.
Liam Delap’s hamstring problem and Cole Palmer’s groin injury have left Chelsea with limited options up front.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca would be left with only Joao Pedro as his fit senior striker if Jackson were allowed to leave, following Christopher Nkunku’s departure to AC Milan. However, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the deal was off, stating that Chelsea informed them of their decision to keep Jackson.
Despite the setback, Jackson’s agent Diomansy Kamara insisted that his player is not returning to Chelsea. “We’re not going back. The plane doesn’t go backwards: Munich,” he said, indicating that Jackson is determined to make the move happen. The striker had agreed to a deal that would have seen him move to Bayern for an initial £13 million loan fee with an option to buy for £52 million.
Chelsea’s injury problems have forced them to reconsider their options, and they are now reportedly exploring a move for Sporting’s Conrad Harder before Monday’s transfer deadline. If successful, this could pave the way for Jackson to join Bayern after all. Chelsea prefers selling Jackson on a permanent basis rather than reviving the loan deal.
Jackson’s move to Bayern was initially seen as a great opportunity for the young striker to gain regular playing time and develop his skills. With Bayern’s attacking style and Vincent Kompany’s guidance, Jackson could have thrived in the Bundesliga.
As the transfer window deadline looms, all eyes will be on Jackson’s situation, with fans and pundits alike eager to see how the drama unfolds.
