Nico Paz had a standout performance in Como’s 2-0 win over Lazio, scoring a beautiful free-kick and providing the assist for the first goal.
The 20-year-old Argentina international’s impressive display on the pitch has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, who are reportedly interested in signing him for €50 million.
Despite the transfer rumors, Paz started the match against Lazio and made a significant impact on the game. He set up the first goal for Anastasios Douvikas with a neat turn and incisive pass. Paz then doubled Como’s advantage with a stunning free-kick from over 25 yards out, which rifled into the roof of the net.
“I always practice set-pieces,” Paz said after the match, when asked about his impressive free-kick. “We sometimes joke about it in training, but the idea is always the same: Try to shoot as best as possible. When the ball went in, I can’t say I was surprised because I prepare a lot for these situations. I’d prefer to say that I was really happy.”
Paz’s form has been impressive this season, and it’s no surprise that he’s attracting interest from bigger clubs.
Inter Milan has reportedly identified him as a potential long-term replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will be 36 at the end of the season.
