Newcastle United has agreed to a club-record £69m deal for Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade.

Newcastle United is set to finalize a record-breaking deal for Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade, worth £64.86m plus £4.3m in add-ons, totaling approximately £69m. The 23-year-old German international is expected to undergo a medical on Friday, after which he will sign the contract.

Woltemade’s arrival at Newcastle increases the likelihood of Alexander Isak’s departure, with Liverpool believed to be keen on signing the Sweden international. Isak has maintained that he will not play for Newcastle again this season and has yet to feature in any matches.

Liverpool had their £110m plus add-ons bid for Isak rejected earlier in the summer, so they will need to increase their offer to secure his services.

The Magpies have been searching for a new striker to strengthen their squad, and Woltemade’s profile fits their requirements. Standing at 6ft 6in, Woltemade is not a typical target man and is known for his technical ability and creativity on the field. He is expected to bring a new dimension to Newcastle’s attack.

Newcastle’s decision to sign Woltemade suggests that they are preparing for life without Isak, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

With less than four days left in the transfer window, Liverpool will need to act quickly if they want to sign Isak. The Reds are reportedly planning a new bid, potentially exceeding £150m, to persuade Newcastle to sell their star striker.

Before listening to offers from Liverpool, Newcastle plans to sign another striker to complement Woltemade. They have been linked with Yoane Wissa, who has not played for Brentford this season amid reported interest from the Magpies.
