Alternatives for the Magpies include Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus

Newcastle United have had a £45 million bid for Anthony Elanga turned down by Nottingham Forest, who have made it clear they are not willing to sell the Swedish winger this summer.

The Magpies are on the hunt for a right-sided attacker to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the new season. Elanga enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 campaign with six goals and 11 assists in the Premier League, which has put him on the radar of several clubs. However, Forest responded swiftly to Newcastle’s approach, rejecting the offer outright and insisting they have no intention of letting the 23-year-old leave.

The rejection puts Newcastle in a position where they must now decide whether to raise their offer or move on to other targets. Howe is believed to be a fan of both Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, two players also attracting interest from top Premier League sides.

Semenyo has been linked to both Manchester United and Tottenham, while Kudus is already on Spurs’ radar and could become a key figure in the market depending on how West Ham play their hand.

This isn’t the first time Newcastle have made a move for Elanga. They tried to sign him last summer with a deal that included £30 million up front, the option of sending Miguel Almiron in the opposite direction, and two additional £5 million payments. That proposal also failed to convince Forest, who have stood firm again this year.

Newcastle’s recruitment team have struggled to bring players to Tyneside so far this summer. With the season fast approaching, they are expected to make a decision soon.
