Napoli secured a convincing 3-1 win over Atalanta in Raffaele Palladino’s first match as Atalanta’s manager.
The match began with a relatively even contest, but Napoli took the lead in the 17th minute when Neres scored with a clinical close-range strike.
The Brazilian winger doubled his tally in the 38th minute, guiding a low finish past Marco Carnesecchi after a pass from Scott McTominay. Napoli’s third goal came from a Giovanni Di Lorenzo cross, which Noa Lang headed home at the back post.
Atalanta’s response was limited, and they struggled to create clear-cut chances before halftime. However, they improved after the break, with Gianluca Scamacca scoring a consolation goal in the 52nd minute with an expertly taken volley.
Despite Atalanta’s push, Napoli held on to secure the win.
Napoli’s manager Antonio Conte praised his team’s performance, while Atalanta’s manager Palladino acknowledged his side’s poor start.
