Napoli Beat Fiorentina 2-1 To Keep Title Hopes Alive

Napoli got back to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 victory over Fiorentina, thanks to goals from Vergara and Gutierrez. 

The win lifts Napoli to third place in Serie A, six points behind leaders Inter Milan.

The win was a much-needed boost for Napoli after their Champions League exit midweek after a dramatic 3-2 loss to Chelsea.

Vergara opened the scoring in the 11th minute, latching onto a loose ball and tucking past David de Gea.

Fiorentina pushed back and had chances to equalize, but Napoli’s goalkeeper Meret made crucial saves to keep his team ahead.Di Lorenzo was forced off with an injury, adding to Napoli’s growing absentee list.

Gutierrez doubled Napoli’s lead in the 49th minute with a curling shot from an acute angle. Fiorentina pulled one back eight minutes later through Manor Solomon, who reacted sharply to turn in a rebound.

Napoli held on to secure the win, despite late pressure from Fiorentina. The victory extends Napoli’s winning streak against Fiorentina to four consecutive Serie A matches.

The win is a welcome relief for Napoli, who had struggled in their previous three matches. Antonio Conte will be pleased with the team’s response after their Champions League exit.
