Arsenal’s defender William Saliba was substituted just five minutes into the game against Liverpool due to an injury, adding to the team’s growing list of injured players.

Arsenal’s early-season injury woes have taken a turn for the worse with defender William Saliba being substituted just five minutes into their match against Liverpool. Saliba, who is an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s lineup, appeared to injure himself while fighting for a ball in the air with Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitiké.

Despite winning the ball, Saliba started hopping on one leg in clear pain and eventually signaled to the bench that he couldn’t continue.

The French international’s departure from the game was a devastating blow for Arsenal, given his importance to the team’s success.

Saliba’s partnership with Gabriel in the heart of defense has been arguably the best in the Premier League. With Saliba out, Arsenal newcomer Cristhian Mosquera replaced him and got his first extended appearance at his new club at one of the toughest away venues in England.

This injury adds to Arsenal’s growing list of players who have suffered setbacks. Saliba is now the fourth player to suffer an injury during the Gunners’ first three games of the season, joining Kai Havertz, Martin Ødegaard, and Bukayo Saka. Ødegaard and Saka both had to be taken off in Arsenal’s most recent game against Leeds United.
