Inter’s 3-2 win over Juventus came with a lot of drama apart from the penalty incident, one of which may result in a ban for Juventus.
Juventus directors Damien Comolli and Giorgio Chiellini are facing a possible ban after a heated confrontation with referee Federico La Penna during the half-time break of Saturday’s Serie A match against Inter.
The incident, captured on a viral video, shows Comolli and Chiellini facing La Penna just inside the tunnel at the Stadio Meazza, furious over Kalulu’s red card.
Serie A’s referee designator has apologised for the “clearly wrong” sending off of Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu against Inter, but criticised those in the league who “try everything they can to cheat” the officials.

La Penna had sent off Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, sparking outrage among the Bianconeri players and directors. Comolli attempted to confront La Penna, but coach Luciano Spalletti intervened, while Chiellini voiced his anger. The incident has sparked concerns of disciplinary action against the Juventus directors.

According to reports, La Penna mentioned the incident in his post-match report, which could lead to a suspension for both Chiellini and Comolli. The FIGC Prosecutor would need to open a formal investigation without an official report from the referee.
Comolli’s verbal attack risks being considered insulting, potentially leading to a ban of at least two months. Chiellini’s remarks, while critical, are not necessarily insulting, but still warrant disciplinary action.
The confrontation has added to the controversy surrounding Juventus’ 3-2 loss to Inter. The Bianconeri were already struggling with injuries and poor form, and this incident may further distract them from their Serie A campaign.
The FIGC will review the incident and decide on potential disciplinary action. A ban for Comolli and Chiellini would be a significant blow to Juventus, who are already struggling to cope with their current crisis.
