Here comes the billion-dollar question that netizens have been asking since the international break began: Who’s better: Moises Caicedo or Declan Rice?
Going into the international break, you would expect a debate like this, especially given the fact that Rice has been at the top of his game and Caicedo has single-handedly wrecked midfields while winning the Man of the Match for his impressive display against Liverpool in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory.
Both players, especially Caicedo, are finally getting the recognition they deserve, and it is typical of fans to debate who is the better player. So, who is the better player? Here’s my take.
None.
None is better than the other. While Caicedo may be the best midfielder in the league and arguably the best DM in the world, Rice is just as good as him.
Another aspect of this debate that makes it not worth the trouble is that both players have different profiles. While Rice started out as a DM, since his move to Arsenal, he has played in the CM role a lot more and it would be more interesting to compare him to actual CM like Pedri, Enzo, Mac Allister, Vitinha and the likes than to Caicedo who is a DM.
Also, both players give you something different on the pitch and it is worth noting that both players can play in the same team.
Weighing in on this debate, Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United legend, added that both players are quite similar, but Rice gives more offensively while Caicedo offers more defensively. Rice ranks high for forward passes, chances created and progressive pla,y while Caicedo is known for his precise tackling and ability to play with his back to goal and relieve the pressure off his defence.
To close this out, Caicedo may be the talk of the town and arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League given that he’s adding other aspects to his top-tier game, but Rice is just as good and as fans of Rice or Caicedo, you wouldn’t want to switch them for the other.
