Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provides an update on Kai Havertz’s recovery, saying the German forward’s return will take months.
Kai Havertz’s absence has been a significant blow to Arsenal’s attacking lineup, with the German forward sidelined due to injury since mid-August. Despite the setback, manager Mikel Arteta remains hopeful about Havertz’s return, describing him as a “different specimen” who may defy expectations with a faster-than-anticipated recovery.
The Arsenal manager also suggested it will take “months” for the player to return to action. However, he also expressed confidence in Havertz’s resilience and potential to bounce back quicker than expected. “With Kai, we know that it will be months with him. I don’t know if it can be weeks, you never know because this is Kai and he’s a different specimen,” Arteta said.
With Havertz out injured, Viktor Gyokeres is the sole option for Arsenal upfront, and he has borne the brunt of the challenge by playing in every Arsenal game since his debut. Gyökeres has featured heavily since joining the club and has done an impressive job in Havertz’s absence. Mikel Merino has also been deployed in a more advanced role on occasion, but Havertz remains the recognized second-choice striker when fit.
Havertz’s return is expected to provide a vital boost to Arsenal’s attack as the season progresses and the demands on the squad intensify. While patience is key for now, there is little doubt that Arsenal fans will eagerly await Havertz’s comeback.
The form of Gyökeres has ensured that Arsenal remain competitive in Havertz’s absence, reducing any immediate pressure to rush him back into action. However, Havertz’s experience and quality will be crucial in the latter stages of the season, and his return could be a significant factor in Arsenal’s push for silverware.
