Forward has “trained with the group” following private gym work earlier this week
Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa says Kylian Mbappe is fit and “available” to start against Real Sociedad on Saturday, after fitness concerns kept him out of regular team training this week.
Madrid had four days of training this week but as of Thursday Mbappe was still doing gym work in isolation due to a problem with his knee. The forward has been sidelined on a few occasions this season with an injury problem in the same knee. However, Arbeloa has now banished concerns that their top scorer may be unavailable in a tricky test against Sociedad.
“Yes, Kylian is fine,” Arbeloa said. “He’s trained with the group and he’s available for tomorrow’s game.”
Madrid head into the game one point behind league leaders Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s side had a midweek engagement, playing in the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Atletico Madrid, a game they sensationally lost 4-0.
Meanwhile Madrid had a free week after having been knocked out of the domestic competition by second-division side Albacete last month. Madrid’s opponents at the weekend Sociedad also played in the Copa del Rey semi-finals in midweek, beating Athletic Club 1-0.
