Ajax has confirmed the loan signing of Maximilian Ibrahimovic, son of legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, from AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic, who primarily plays as a winger, will join the Dutch giants on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy reportedly set at €3.5 million.
Maximilian will wear the number 27 shirt, the same number his father wore during his time at Malmo in 1999. Ajax director of football, Marijn Beuker, expressed excitement about the signing, highlighting Maximilian’s talent, goal-oriented finishing, and winning mentality.
The young forward has played for Milan’s youth teams, including Futuro, where he scored five goals and assisted five in 18 appearances. He made his debut in Milan’s matchday squad for the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal but remained an unused substitute.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently a senior advisor to AC Milan, is said to have played a significant role in the negotiations for his son’s move to Ajax. The Swedish icon played for Ajax from 2001 to 2004, scoring 48 goals in 115 games.
Maximilian will initially play for Jong Ajax, the club’s under-21 team, and is expected to make appearances for the senior squad. Beuker believes the young player has potential to join the senior squad’s attack permanently.
The loan deal includes a sell-on clause, ensuring AC Milan a percentage of any future transfer fee. Maximilian is under contract with Milan until 2027.
