Italian striker Mateo Retegui has joined Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah from Atalanta in a record-breaking deal worth €65m.

Mateo Retegui has officially completed his transfer to Al Qadsiah from Atalanta, signing a four-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side.

The Italian striker’s move is reportedly worth €65m, making him the most expensive Italian player in history, surpassing Sandro Tonali’s €59m transfer from Milan to Newcastle United.

Retegui had a remarkable season with Atalanta, scoring 25 league goals to help the club secure a third-place finish in Serie A. He also won the Serie A Golden Boot award, showcasing his impressive goal-scoring ability. The 26-year-old striker has been capped 20 times by Italy, scoring six goals, including one on his debut against England in 2023.

Al Qadsiah confirmed the signing on Monday, with Retegui set to fill the void left by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure to Marseille. The club finished fourth in the Saudi Pro League last season, and Retegui’s addition is expected to boost their chances of success.
