Arsenal moved into the FA Cup fourth round with a convincing 4-1 win over Portsmouth, thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s hat-trick.
Arsenal fell behind early, but Martinelli’s goals in the 25th, 61st, and 75th minutes secured the victory.
The match was played at Fratton Park, where Portsmouth had taken an early lead through Colby Bishop. However, Arsenal quickly leveled, with the equalizer coming from a corner kick that was deflected into the net by Andre Dozzell.
Martinelli’s first goal was a beauty, glancing in Noni Madueke’s corner kick. He had a chance to score again soon after, hitting the post from close range. Madueke also had a penalty saved just before halftime, but Arsenal went on to dominate the second half.
Martinelli’s second goal came from a superb pass by Gabriel Jesus, and he completed his hat-trick with a header from another corner kick. Portsmouth were unable to cope with Arsenal’s set-piece delivery, which has been a strength throughout the season.
The win marks another impressive performance from Arsenal, who are currently top of the Premier League table. They will be looking to continue their good form in the FA Cup fourth round.
In other FA Cup action, Leeds United came from a goal down to beat Derby County 3-1. The top-flight side will be pleased with their win, which keeps them in contention for a top-four finish.
