Marseille receives partial stadium closure and fine from UEFA due to fan misconduct during the Champions League match against Atalanta.
Marseille has been handed a partial stadium closure by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League match against Newcastle.
The punishment comes from incidents that occurred during their 1-0 defeat to Atalanta on November 5th, where home fans set off flares, threw projectiles, and used lasers.
The Stade Velodrome will be partially closed, with a section of the south stand shut for the Newcastle match on November 25th. Additionally, Marseille has been fined 71,000 euros (£62,800) for the misconduct.
Goalkeeping coach Alexandre Salvat has also received a two-match ban for insulting an official during the Atalanta match. This adds to the list of challenges facing Marseille as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
Marseille must now focus on rectifying their behavior and ensuring a better atmosphere for their remaining Champions League matches.
