After Caicedo’s standout performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Maresca praised him as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

Caicedo’s display was indeed impressive, with his tenacity and work rate driving Chelsea’s attack. He won the ball back twice and set up Joao Pedro for the winning goal, showcasing his all-action style.

Maresca believes Caicedo is in a league of his own, alongside Manchester City’s Rodri. “He is top. At this moment, I think him with Rodri, they are the two best defensive midfielders probably in the world,” Maresca said.

The Chelsea boss is clearly a fan of Caicedo’s humility and work ethic, saying he’s “such a good guy and is always there to help everyone”. Maresca’s praise is no surprise, given Caicedo’s consistent performances for Chelsea.
