Maresca confirms that Cole Palmer won’t feature for Chelsea in the UCL game against Atalanta as they want to manage his fitness levels.

Chelsea fans who hoped to see their star player, Cole Palmer, in the UCL would have to wait a little longer, as Enzo Maresca explained during his press conference that Cole Palmer won’t be in the squad to play against Atalanta

Palmer has made just 6 appearances for Chelsea this season, as he has been out with a groin injury before fracturing his toe late last month. The English midfielder recently returned to action for Chelsea, making a substitute appearance in their 3-1 loss to Leeds and starting in the 0-0 draw at Bournemouth.

Maresca said in his press conference that the club can’t afford to play Cole Palmer two times in three days since he’s just recovering from injury. This means Joao Pedro could get the nod to start in the number ten position, while Marc Guiu could start up front in place of Liam Delap, who went off injured against Bournemouth.
