Enzo Maresca confirms Chelsea team news ahead of Sunderland clash, with Liam Delap closing in on return.

Chelsea is gearing up to face Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, looking to build on their impressive 5-1 win over Ajax in the Champions League. Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the team has no fresh injury concerns, with all players coming through the midweek game unscathed.

Striker Liam Delap is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained against Fulham in August. He’s rejoined team training and took part in a session yesterday, although he’s not expected to be available for tomorrow’s game.

Marc Guiu, who spent the early weeks of the season on loan at Sunderland, is ready to start against his former club. Maresca praised Guiu’s physical strength and box presence, saying he’s a typical number nine who can improve and contribute to the team.

Sunderland has started the campaign strongly, earning promotion from the Championship, and Maresca acknowledges their strength and teamwork. “They play good football, are quite strong physically, so I really like how they are doing things,” he said.

The Black Cats have the same points as Chelsea, making this a crucial game for both teams. Maresca emphasized the challenge ahead, saying, “The challenge is always the same: try to win the game knowing they want the same.”
