Winger is set to leave Manchester United this summer and is keen on a move to Catalonia
Marcus Rashford is pushing to engineer a move to Barcelona this summer, with the Manchester United forward reportedly willing to take a pay cut to make the transfer happen.
The 27-year-old England international is on the radar of the La Liga champions, who are looking to bolster their forward line under manager Hansi Flick. Club sporting director Deco confirmed in March that they admire the player, who would cost them £40m in transfer fees.
Rashford, a Manchester native who rose through the ranks at United, has made more than 400 senior appearances for the club since debuting in 2016, although he has had periods of inconsistency.
After a difficult 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford, Rashford appeared to regain some form during a brief loan spell at Aston Villa, where he registered four goals and six assists in 17 matches. Now, he views a move to Spain as the opportunity he needs to reboot his career. Rashford is currently training in Spain and has told his camp that Barcelona is his preferred destination, according to Marca.
The move would be Rashford’s first professional experience outside of English football.
But while Barcelona admire the player, their interest seems to have cooled of late, with the club appearing to prioritise the signing of Athletic Club left-winger Nico Williams. If the deal is concluded it would end any hopes Rashford has of joining Barcelona.
Barcelona are still navigating La Liga’s strict financial controls, with La Liga president Javier Tebas saying that the club “don’t yet meet the requirements to sign freely”.
