Winger delivered an assist but could not prevent Hansi Flick’s side from slipping further behind their arch-rivals in the table
Barcelona winger Marcus Rashford has said he and the squad will “keep fighting” after losing his first-ever clásico.
The La Liga champions fell to a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
Rashford delivered an assist but could not prevent Hansi Flick’s side from slipping further behind their arch-rivals in the table.
The Manchester United loanee set up Fermin Lopez in the first half to cancel out Kylian Mbappe’s opener, but a second from Jude Bellingham put Madrid back in front and ultimately sealed the victory.
Rashford later posted on Instagram: “Clearly, not the result that we wanted yesterday. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we will keep fighting!”
The 27-year-old has produced five goals and seven assists in 13 games played for the club, having had an extended run in the starting XI following some injuries to Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.
A victory over Barcelona saw their rivals in the capital pull five points clear at the summit of La Liga, leaving Flick’s side with a mountain to climb in the title race.
