The structure of the deal is understood to be agreed
West Bromwich Albion are close to completing a season-long loan move for Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer.
The 21-year-old has attracted interest from several Championship sides, but West Brom appear to have won the race to sign him, with basic terms of the deal understood to be agreed.
Collyer joined United from Brighton in 2022 and broke into the first team last season, making 19 appearances.
However, the young midfielder’s opportunities at Old Trafford are limited, with four senior players, including captain Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manual Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo, competing for two midfield positions in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 setup.
In addition, the club are in the market for a midfielder this summer, with a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba being explored. Baleba is the same age as Collyer but much further in his development.
Collyer had been weighing up his next step all summer, stating during United’s pre-season tour of the United States that his priority was to secure regular playing time, whether at the club or elsewhere on loan.
If the deal is finalised, he will join a West Brom side aiming to return to the Premier League under head coach Ryan Mason.
