Portugal international topped the Premier League charts for chances created; Golden Boot winner Salah favourite to win the award
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been shortlisted for the 2024-25 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Players’ Player of the Year award.
Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah is also among the nominees, along with Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer were the other three to make the shortlist.
Although his side finished 15th in the league with a negative difference, Bruno Fernandes created more chances (91) than anyone in the Premier League. He finished the season with 19 goal contributions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists.
Salah seems likely to snatch the prize though. The Egyptian forward ended the season with 29 goals and 18 assists, a combined 47 goal involvements. Incredibly, this matches the Premier League record set by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer when the league still had 42 games per season. Salah’s efforts helped Liverpool win the title by a 10-point margin over Arsenal.
Newcastle’s Isak finished second in the golden boot race with 23 goals and was key in guiding his team to a top-five finish and Champions League qualification.
Chelsea’s Palmer also impressed, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists as Enzo Maresca’s side returned to the Champions League. Mac Allister and Rice played important roles in the heart of midfield for the league’s top two teams.
The winner of the award will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on 19 August.
