Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen unlikely to sign the winger this summer
Manchester United winger Antony is attracting interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Two of the league’s top clubs are considering a move for the Brazilian, according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Betis, where he impressed with nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances.
Betis are open to bringing him back, but a permanent transfer is currently not financially viable for the La Liga side. They are hoping to revisit the option of another loan deal, but United’s financial situation means the Premier League side are prioritising a permanent sale.
A move to Bayer Leverkusen to reunite with Erik ten Hag has been ruled out by the Dutch manager, who said the German club “are not interested at the moment”.
Ten Hag had signed Antony twice – at Ajax and at United.
Other clubs that have been linked with the player this window include Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, although an approach from either club has so far seemed unlikely.
It is unclear whether Antony would accept a move to Saudi Arabia at this point in his career. The player has made it clear that he wants to remain at Betis, but with the Spanish club financially unable to do a deal and options in Europe limited, moving east might become a serious possibility for the player later in the window.
Antony still has two years left on his contract at United, but he is not part of the club’s long-term plans and both parties would be keen on a move this summer.
