Manager Ruben Amorim has said he is willing to reintegrate out-of-favour players but United are exploring options in leagues where the market is still open

Manchester United are still considering ways to move Tyrell Malacia out of the club after the defender’s deadline-day switch to Elche collapsed.

The 26-year-old had been close to a loan move to Spain, but the deal fell through in the final hours of the window, leaving him as the only player from United’s “bomb squad” still at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all secured moves away before the deadline, while Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan much earlier in the window.

Manager Ruben Amorim has said he is willing to reintegrate out-of-favour players if they remain at the club, but sources suggest United are exploring options in leagues where the market is still open.

Transfers can still be made in Belgium and Switzerland until 8 September, Turkey until 12 September, and Saudi Arabia until 23 September.

Malacia started on a highly positive note for United under Erik ten Hag but has struggled to regain his form after a knee issue that kept him out for 17 months.

Having not featured in Amorim’s plans all summer, his future will now depend on whether a suitable destination can be found in time or if Amorim chooses to bring him back into the squad.
