Brighton have no plans to sell Baleba but will consider it if a substantial bid is made
Manchester United have made initial contact through intermediaries to explore the possibility of signing Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
The 21-year-old has had two strong seasons with Brighton and is now regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the Premier League.
Brighton have no plans to sell but will consider it if a substantial bid is made. However, a deal may be unlikely for United unless the club can offload players this summer to fund the move.
United’s interest has been relayed informally via representatives. The club are only assessing the feasibility of a move, as they are currently focused on concluding a deal with RB Leipzig for striker Benjamin Sesko.
They will only turn their full focus towards a deal for a midfielder after sealing a move for the No 9, with the position currently their priority.
Baleba has three years left on his contract at Brighton and the club hold an option to extend for a further year. Brighton view him as central to their plans and are likely to resist any approach unless a major offer is tabled.
