Ameesh Manek previously worked as chief of operations for both Brentford and Arsenal
Manchester United are set to appoint Brentford’s chief operating officer Ameesh Manek as their new director of football operations.
He is expected to take up the appointment in 2026. Manek will report to sporting director Jason Wilcox and will oversee areas including travel, logistics, and player support for both United’s men’s and women’s teams.
His appointment comes as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos-led administration continues to make sweeping changes to the club’s football department.
The group has shown a pattern of bringing in figures with successful stints at other Premier League clubs.
Manek is joining United from Brentford, the same club from which Stephen Torpey was hired as academy director just last August.
Ineos hired Dan Ashworth as sporting director from Newcastle last year, although he ended up leaving after just five months. Chief executive Omar Berrada joined after working with Manchester City for 13 years.
Current director of football Jason Wilcox previously served at Manchester City and Southampton, while director of recruitment Christopher Vivell worked as technical director at Chelsea.
Manek is switching to United after joining Brentford in 2022 as business operations director and getting promoted to chief operating officer in 2024. Before that, he spent five years at Arsenal, rising from head of academy operations to head of first-team football operations.
