Donyell Malen scored a brace, but it wasn’t enough for Roma to break Napoli’s formidable home record as both sides played 2-2 draw.

Napoli maintained their remarkable home invincibility, coming from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against AS Roma.

Roma drew first blood and quickly found the back of the net in the 7th minute. Bryan Zaragoza delivered a pinpoint low cross into the box, and Donyell Malen was perfectly positioned to meet the delivery, sweeping a first-time finish past Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to give Roma the dream start and silence the home crowd.

Napoli struggled to find their rhythm immediately after the setback, but gradually began to test the Roma backline. Lobotka had a stinging long-range effort, but it lacked the placement to beat Mile Svilar. The game opened up as both sides traded blows, with Malen nearly doubling his tally while Hojlund saw a goal-bound effort heroically blocked for the hosts.

The pressure finally told for Antonio Conte’s side shortly before the interval. In the 40th minute, Leonardo Spinazzola took a crack from 25 yards out. The shot took a significant deflection off Niccolo Pisilli, looping high into the air and over the stranded Svilar to restore parity. The equalizer provided Napoli with a massive boost heading into the locker rooms.

The second half began with Napoli dominating possession, yet they struggled to break down a resolute Roma defence. The momentum shifted back to the Giallorossi when a marauding run from Wesley Franca forced Amir Rrahmani into a clumsy challenge inside the box. The referee pointed to the spot, handing the visitors a golden opportunity to reclaim the lead against the run of play.

Malen stepped up to the spot with ice in his veins, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to secure his second goal of the match. With the Dutchman’s clinical penalty, Roma looked poised to end Napoli’s long-standing home streak. However, Conte’s tactical flexibility came to the rescue as he turned to his bench to inject fresh energy into the final third.

In the 82nd minute, Alisson Santos found space in the box to fire a precise finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-2.

While Napoli pushed for a dramatic winner in the dying moments, the spoils were ultimately shared. The draw leaves Napoli 11 points adrift of league leaders Inter, while Roma continues their steady climb toward Champions League qualification.
