Deal does not include an option to buy and will see Lyon contribute around €1m to the player’s wages
Lyon have confirmed the signing of Real Madrid forward Endrick on loan.
The 19-year-old has joined the Ligue 1 club until the end of the season in search of playing time after limited opportunities in Spain.
The deal does not include an option to buy and will see Lyon contribute around €1m to the player’s wages. Madrid have also inserted some performance-related clauses, with additional compensation due if Endrick does not reach a set number of starts in Ligue 1 and Europe.
French registration rules mean the Brazil international will not be available immediately in January. After he is formally registered on 1 January, Endrick must wait a mandatory four-day period before being cleared to play, ruling him out of Lyon’s league trip to Monaco on 3 January.
Lyon had been working on a loan deal for Endrick since autumn and convinced the striker with the promise of regular football during the second half of the campaign. Endrick is keen to remain in contention for Brazil’s plans ahead of the next World Cup and felt moving to France was the best route back to consistent minutes.
Madrid had initially delayed the decision, hoping he might get more minutes as the season continued, but eventually they accepted a loan was the most practical solution.
Endrick joined Madrid officially in July after agreeing a move from Palmeiras as a 17-year-old in 2022. He has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals, but fierce competition for places has limited his chances to build up some form.
Lyon announced the signing with a short video on social media, showing Endrick exploring the city and pulling on the club’s No 9 shirt. Speaking in the clip, he said: “Christmas has come early.”
The Brazilian has also addressed supporters directly, posting “Allez, les Gones” (Come on, you Gones) on Instagram shortly after the deal was confirmed.
