Luis Diaz has completed a £65.5m move to Bayern Munich, signing a four-year deal with the Bundesliga champions after three-and-a-half successful years at Liverpool.

Luis Diaz has bid farewell to Liverpool, joining Bayern Munich in a £65.5m deal that will keep him at the German club until 2029. The Colombian winger’s departure marks the end of an era for the Reds, who have seen him grow into one of the most potent attackers in the Premier League.

During his time at Anfield, Diaz won four major trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

He played a crucial role in Liverpool’s success, scoring 41 goals in 148 appearances and becoming a fan favorite. Diaz’s most prolific season came last term, where he scored 17 goals in all competitions, helping Liverpool clinch the Premier League title.

The 28-year-old’s exit was triggered by Bayern’s second offer of £65.5m, which Liverpool accepted after rejecting the initial bid of £58.6m. Diaz had reportedly expressed his desire to leave Liverpool, and the Reds have now given him permission to join Bayern Munich.

In an emotional Instagram post, Diaz reflected on his time at Liverpool, saying, “I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.” He also paid tribute to his former teammate Diogo Jota, who passed away earlier this month, saying, “It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.”

Diaz’s departure is part of Liverpool’s strategic overhaul, with the club looking to reinvest the transfer funds into strengthening their squad.

They’ve already spent around £270m on new signings like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez. The potential sale of Diaz has contributed to the £115m generated from player sales so far this summer.

Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak remains strong, with the Magpies reportedly exploring options for his departure. With Diaz’s departure, Isak’s transfer to Liverpool is now on the cards.

Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich marks a new chapter in his career, and he’ll be looking to replicate his success in the Bundesliga. His four-year contract will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2029.
