Luciano Spalletti Makes History as New Juventus Coach

Former Italy National Team Coach.

Luciano Spalletti becomes the oldest coach to take on the Juventus job, making history with his appointment.

Luciano Spalletti has made history by becoming the oldest coach to take on the Juventus job, signing a deal until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend if they qualify for the Champions League.

The 66-year-old Italian coach shattered the previous record set by Maurizio Sarri, who accepted the role in June 2019 at the age of 60. Spalletti’s appointment marks a new era for Juventus, who are looking to restore stability and ambition to their season.

Spalletti’s impressive track record includes leading Napoli to the Serie A title in 2023, making him an ideal choice for Juventus. His experience and tactical intelligence make him well-suited to guide the team back to success.

Spalletti will make his debut on the Juventus bench against Cremonese this weekend, and his first training session is scheduled for today, followed by a presentation press conference.

In addition to becoming the oldest coach to take on the Juventus job, Spalletti is also only the third coach to sit on the benches of Inter, Roma, and Juventus in Serie A, following Jesse Carver and Claudio Ranieri.

Spalletti’s appointment is a significant turning point for Juventus, who are looking to rebuild momentum and secure a Champions League spot. His contract includes an automatic extension clause if Juventus qualifies for the Champions League.
